We provide educational programs to schools, libraries, and groups to teach children the proper care and treatment of animals. We also provide area nursing homes and hospitals with the love an animal gives with pet visitations. Our visitation program is called "Love on a Leash".

Why visit retirement homes and hospitals? Visiting with a live canine friend can help people feel less lonely and less depressed. A visit will be entertainment for those that like a change in their routine. People will talk to Love volunteers and their dogs, sharing thoughts, memories, and feelings. Petting will encourage use of hands and arms, which may not have been stretched for a while. Stroking a dog will lower a person's blood pressure.

Why visit schools and libraries? What better place to get children and dogs together! "Love" dogs act out skits with their tricks to entertain and educate school age children about proper pet care and responsibility. What can more fun than seeing smiles on kid's faces! (Pawsitive Dog Training has trick training classes for your canine education.)

To represent PAWS at public relations events with your canine friend, you and your dog must have some obedience training and pass the Canine Good Citizen test given by an AKC CGC Approved Evaluator at a training facility.

If you do not have a dog to participate in this program, no problem. We have stuffed PAWS pets! Preschool age or kids that are afraid of dogs can still feel relaxed and interact with our stuffed PAWS pets. Our stuffed "Love" pets and volunteers read animal related books at local libraries and educate groups like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H clubs, on pet care and responsibility.
